The archival and storage of plankton samples for the Southeast Area Monitoring and Assessment Program (SEAMAP) is a continuing service provided by the University of Southern Mississippi at their NASA Stennis Space Center facility. Additionally, the site stores samples collected during the NOAA Natural Resource Damage Assessment (NRDA) effort following the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. The Stennis facility provides a safe and secure archive for the plankton samples, which comprise the longest plankton time series for the Gulf of Mexico. Samples are available for loan to researchers upon request.
